The writer is back. After a period with many other priorities, ‘An Open Shift’ now gets a final push. It looks like my period of leisure may be over soon!
The good thing is that I still enjoy reading ‘an Open Shift’!
Can’t wait to have you read about the complex and fun developments between Rick, Erna, Kirsten and Bridget!
If this would be the summary on the back, would you pick up this book as your next read?

When Rick Casper loses his job and is about to sign for a dream job as CFO in a start-up, he is very concerned when the CEO invites Rick and his wife Erna for a dinner with her husband.
His wife Erna has an unpredictable temper and it would not be the first time she would cause havoc during a dinner with friends.
When Rick convinces his friend Kirsten, who runs an outplacement office, to join him to the dinner as his wife, it is the start of a series of events with several complex and unexpected developments.
An Open Shift is a fun story about friendship!
It will keep you amused till the very end!

‘An Open Shift’ will be available in the coming months!
Here an update from me. Been a bit busy with many other things, but now it is time to finish ‘an open shift’. I didn’t the last 2 weeks reading the book and reviewing the various comments from my editor.
Next phase now is copy-editing where together with the editor we go through every chapter and fine-tune things.
It was good to not have read the book for some time. First of all I still enjoyed reading it but at the same time it allowed me to take few steps back and get some new fresh ideas. It allowed me to now be more critical on what needs further improvements.
I now will keep pushing it. Still on target to release it before my next birthday.
After some silence here an update from my side. The writing continues. The book is done, I have done various draft revisions. I have just contracted an editor for the book, who will work on it. It is the first real test for my writing!
I did settle on the cover below (for the moment). It was in the top-3 favorites you all voted for. What I liked about it is that it shows a power lady and it well represents the transformation the main character in the book, Erna, has gone through.
All in all I am well ahead of schedule. I always was working towards a release on 9th May 2021, but the way things are going I hope it can be released before the end of the year.
Below you will also find a link to the 11 covers I would be keen to get you to vote on. It also has a small story teaser. Readers typically will pick a book based on this.
You define your novel ‘An Open Shift’ as a Biz Rom Com. What is this?
Many Romantic Comedies (so called Rom Com) are very much oriented towards female readers and tend to be a sweet love story in a funny setting.
‘An Open Shift’ is written from my business background and is placed in a setting I am more familiar with. Business, Technology and it even some references to magic. That said at its core it still is a story about two people finding themselves in a complicated relationship. As such the word ‘Biz Rom Com’ well covers the book. As a result I hope it pleases to both men and women.
It would be great that readers of the book have the same experience that movies like ‘Something’s Gotta Give’ or ‘It’s Complicated’ gave me when I watched them. Feel good. Fun. Non pretentious. Just a fun pleasant story.
The current world is full of challenges and bad news. I hope we are entering into a a period where a story like ‘An Open Shift’ finds an audience.
